Welcome to my Craft Roulette #115 entry!

Have you heard of Craft Roulette? Every Friday evening, on Youtube, Mary Gunn hosts a live show where she spins a wheel to randomly select four categories that will be the criteria for building a card. Mary and a guest will create a card using these criteria and then you are given 48 hours to submit your own for a chance at a prize! Check out the Craft Roulette website for more information.

Criteria and implementation

  • Product: Diagonal cut
  • Colours: Sky view
  • Element: Farm
  • Random: Partial image

I, initially, had a difficult time coming up with an idea because of the lack of farm themed stamps in my collection. Searching through my stash, I came across a hilariously cute chicken blowing bubbles with chewing gum and decided that I would create a card using this awesome stamp. This stamp is perfect for me because I love the absurd and unexpected.

So I now have my Farm criteria covered, plus Partial image will be taken care of because I will cut a portion of the image off. Next was the colour choices. The justification for my colour choice is that I thought about a meadow on a sunny morning, and a tranquil evening. These palettes gave me blue, green, pink, orange and red. Is it a stretch? maybe lol.

I started with a 3.75″ square piece of white cardstock that I inked with Tumbled Glass Distress ink, and Broken China Distress ink along the perimeter. Once the inking was done, I moved to a container of of texture paste and Altenew watercolour markers. The watercolour markers are made up of concentrated watercolours which I used to tint the paste before adding it to the stencil. The stencil I have has both grass borders and clouds, but you can definitely use whatever you have on hand.

I used a piece of gray pattern paper that I had received from my package from Craft Roulette from winning a couple weeks ago. It fit perfectly inside the middle of the wood frame die and it didn’t take away from my 2 colours!

Now that Sky view colour is checked off, all that was left was a Diagonal cut. I actually forgot about this criteria when designing the card in my head, so I decided to cut the end of the sentiment diagonally lol. It feels like a cheat, but it works!

To finish off the card, I glued down the sentiment and adhered my chicken with foam tape over the left side of the sentiment. The chicken was then trimmed partially to fit the scene panel. This panel was glued down to a 4″ square piece of black cardstock and finally adhered to a light blue card based measuring 4.25″ x 4.25″.
