Welcome to my Craft Roulette #196 entry!

Have you heard of Craft Roulette? Every Friday evening, on Youtube, Mary Gunn hosts a live show where she spins a wheel to randomly select four categories that will be the criteria for building a card. Mary and a guest will create a card using these criteria and then you are given 48 hours to submit your own for a chance at a prize! Check out the Craft Roulette website for more information.

Criteria and implementation

  • Product: Celebrate
  • Colours: Apple farm
  • Element: Preserve(s)
  • Random: Add a dog

I was inspired to draw my card this time around, and so I attempted to draw a dog enjoying a jar of preserves.

For this card I used my Ohuhu markers to colour my scene, and tried to make it realistic lol. I have so much to learn when it comes to colouring, but you don’t get there without trying! I wanted my dog to be outdoors enjoying himself, and originally it was going to be in an apple orchard. However, when it came down to the sentiment, I picked one that was a tad large, and felt that it may be best to keep it more simple.

I was concerned about the sentiment being hidden so I made sure to colour around the sentiment with the lightest colours. When all the colouring was completed, I took a Posca marker and outlined the whole sentiment so there is a nice white border. I do not believe that this would have worked if the colour was in the red family. I believe red makes the ink turn pink!

I’m happy with how it turned out, I was impressed that I was actually able to draw a dog head, so kudos to me! lol.
