Christmas sleigh card featuring a brightly coloured sleigh full of presents, a Christmas tree, and a snowman. The sleigh is flying through a snowy scene with a house and a streetlight in the background. The card was created by Sejr for Pajama Crafter Stamps.

Materials:

  • Season’s Gifting stamp bu by Pajama Crafter Stamps
  • Acrylic markers
  • Ink (blue, purple, white)
  • Masking tape
  • Stencils (snowflake or winter-themed)
  • Gold embossing powder
  • Heat embossing tool
  • Cardstock
  • White gel pen

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Background: Start by drawing a simple scene with acrylic markers on Bristol Smooth cardstock. This could be a snowy landscape, a town, or a bustling city street. You can also add a touch of whimsy by including a whimsical character or a playful element.
  2. Stamp your focal image: Once you’re happy with the sketch, stamp the sleigh image onto the desired location using a stamp positioner. This is important because you are going to stamp the image again after colouring.
  3. Ink the Background: Mask off the sleigh and begin inking the whole card with blue and purple inks to create a starry night sky effect. I worked in different shades of each using a very light hand.
  4. Colour the focal image: Once the background is complete, remove the mask and colour in your image using acrylic markers. Work in layers giving time to dry in between for a smooth coat. I added a white outline around the sleigh to exaggerate the separation of the background and sleigh, but you can make it your own.
  5. Stamp focal image again: Once you are finished your colouring and it is completely dry, stamp your image again overtop. Acrylic markers will cover your lines, so stamping again will add them back and encase your colouring 🙂
  6. Create Movement: Use white ink and stencils to add snowflakes or other wintery elements behind the sleigh to create a sense of movement.
  7. Add the Sentiment: Stamp the sentiment “Dashing Through the Snow” onto the card. Use gold embossing powder and a heat embossing tool to add a touch of shine.
  8. Finishing Touches: Use a white gel pen to add highlights to the sleigh and any other details you’d like.

Tips:

  • Experiment with different colour combinations for the background to create unique looks.
  • Add glitter or other embellishments to the card for extra sparkle.
  • For a more luxurious feel, consider using a metallic cardstock, such as gold or silver, for the base
